Thai Tourism Minister Weerasak Kowsurat on Sunday apologized to the victims and their families after two boats capsized in a storm off southern Thailand's Phuket island.

Two boats carrying over 130 foreign tourists, mainly Chinese, capsized in high tides and strong winds off the southern Thai resort island of Phuket on Thursday afternoon. At least 42 people were confirmed dead and 14 others remained missing. All the victims were from the boat "Phoenix," while all 42 people on board a boat called "Serenata" were rescued and safe now.

According to the press conference held in Phuket island at 17:00 on Sunday afternoon, of the 41 bodies salvaged, eight are boys, five girls, ten adult males and 18 adult females. One body was spotted inside hull but has not yet been recovered.

Weerasak and other officials at the news conference stood up and bowed to apologize to the victims and their families.

"This is the first time that we made the official announcement of how many boys and little girls has lost their life in this incident. We are very deeply sorry for the lost one and their families," said the minister.

Phuket Governor Norraphat Plodthong said at the press conference that searching operation continues with no more bodies found on Sunday. Thai navy officers said that fisheries department and port authorities will join in the operation.

Local police said that they have charged the ship's captain with reckless conduct causing physical and mental harm to others.!language=1
