Part 3 of my South Pacific trip. From the Solomon Islands, I fly into Vanuatu. After depositing my things in the Grand Hotel, I have a wander and see some of the main strip. The next day, I wander inland, then cross to the other side of the peninsular. How to spend 24 hours in Port Vila!
With under 200km of sealed roads on the island of Efate you don't expect a traffic jam, but in Port Vila that's exactly what you get! Here's 3 and a bit minutes in real time of the traffic on a "Ship Day".

Welcome to Port Vila .... Vanuatu,
The Vanuatu archipelago's capital, located on the island of Efate, is located just 10 minutes from one of the international airports. Like most capitals, Port Vila also attracts foreign tourists to visit because it is famous as a destination for water sports, colonial architecture, coffee and beer.
Feel the thrill of enjoying the rich culture of the South Pacific island, taste local products such as coffee and beer, or take part in outdoor adventures, such as riding a zipline and scuba diving.
Explore the city center to find various buildings that are hundreds of years old. Among them are the French Housing in the Independence Park, the pink building occupied by the Supreme Court, and the Sacre Coeur Cathedral, which is located in the French Quarter.
The port city is full of hotels, restaurants and markets to entertain visitors and cruise ship passengers. The 150-foot Mele Cascades waterfall is an ideal place to freshen up from the heat of the South Pacific air. To see Vanuatu's distinctive culture and traditions, tourists recommend a visit to Ekasup Village.
Enjoy the hustle and bustle of the city, or want to relax on the beach? Port Vila provides all your tourist desires.
