Similarities Between Turkish and Serbian

In this video, we compare some of the similarities between Turkish and Serbian, two languages that belong to different families. Contact us on Instagram if you have any questions or feedback: Shahrzad (@shahrzad.pe): https://www.instagram.com/shahrzad.pe Bahador (@BahadorAlast): https://www.instagram.com/BahadorAlast The Turkish language (Türkçe), which is also referred to as Istanbul Turkish, is the most widely spoken of the Turkic languages, with most of its native speakers living in Western Asia, and significant group of speakers in Germany, Bulgaria, Macedonia, Northern Cyprus, Greece, the Caucasus, and other parts of Europe and Central Asia. Ottoman Turkish, which was a variation of the Turkish spoken today, influenced many parts of Europe during the time that the Ottoman Empire expanded. When the modern Turkish republic was established, one of Atatürk's Reforms consisted of changing the Ottoman Turkish alphabet with a Latin alphabet. Today, Turkish is recongized as a minority language in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Greece, Iraq, Macedonia, and Romania. The Serbian language (српски / srpski) is the standardized variety of the Serbo-Croatian language mainly used by Serbs, and the official language of Serbia, and one of the three official languages of Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is a minority language in Montenegro, as well as in Croatia, Macedonia, Romania, Hungary, Slovakia, and the Czech Republic. Serbian is the only European standard language uses both Cyrillic and Latin alphabets. The Serbian Revolution in the early 19th century, which was a rebellion against the Ottomans as a struggle for independence led to the formation of an autonomous Serbia, marking the foundation of modern Serbia. Two centuries have passed since that time, and the Serbs were never influenced by the religion of Islam, having maintained Orthodox Christianity. However, the Serbian language and cuisine has been heavily influenced by Turkish. The Ottoman conquest led to linguistical contact between Turkish and South Slavic. Besides Turkish loanwords, also many Arabic and Persian words which had been adopted by the Turks, called "Orientalisms", entered the languages of the Balkans. Many of these words are no longer considered loan words.

Where It All Started | Best Turkish Baklava in Istanbul, Turkey!

FOOD RANGER MERCH NOW AVAILABLE! http://bit.ly/FOODRANGER Follow me on Insta: http://bit.ly/2c5ojch And subscribe to my channel here: http://bit.ly/2cCy2ub Please read description for full story about how I got started Foodrangin. I visited Istanbul, Turkey, in July 2015 as one of the first places to go Foodrangin' outside of China. This is where I met Ting Ting, and now we're both full time foodrangin in China and outside whenever we get the time. She's filming every episode, translating, and managing all the behind the scenes stuff. Thank you for your continued support! I'm currently studying hard at the Sichuan Higher Institute of Cuisine in Chengdu, China. I'll be here for another 2 years! I can't wait to film more and more and I'm uploading this video super late because I never published it and I wanted to show you where I met Ting Ting and how I began my food journeys. This is how it all began. I came to China in 2014 as a masters student with a full scholarship to study international trade in Chengdu. It wasn't actually my goal or dream to do this, but I decided to do it because I figured it was a good backup plan if foodrangin didn't go through. Now I've dropped out of that program to study at culinary school, all possible through youtube. I dropped the scholarship and am paying through my own pocket now. For my first two years in China, I payed for travel through private english teaching one on one. This payed for my trips to Malaysia, Turkey, Thailand, and India. I would go to study for my masters in the afternoon, and I found gigs teaching children one on one for 2 hours at a time nearly every hour I had free. After 2 years of making videos, the revenue from youtube began to be enough that I could survive in China and no longer needed to teach English privately. It helps that it's quite cheap in China, so saving up for travel was quite easy. Now, this upcoming January, I'm taking a trip to India, Malaysia, and Sri Lanka, all payed for through Youtube. This is all thanks to you for watching my videos and I'm so grateful to have you as my viewer! Thank you for watching! Please leave me a comment down below and I'll do my best to reply! Love the music I use? Get a FREE month from me to you! I'm using this library for a few months now (since July 2017) and LOVE it. http://bit.ly/FoodRangerMusic
