Our trip to Egypt May 2015, to Jaz Aquaviva. A great hotel with great staff. There is so much to do on site with the Makadi Park on site and free entry as part of the all inclusive deal with Thompson. Makadi Park – so much to do as long as you’re over 1.2m tall! Under that and you’re struggling with only the family ride and the kids pirate park, which is actually pretty good. Word of warning, its cold on there with the wind and cool water. The hotel has a lot do from water polo to volley ball, table tennis, fuzball, aqua, Zumba, darts and other fun games. The entertainment team are good. There is also a kids club which was on twice a day, for a couple of hours each time, so you can get a break, those with younger kids. Food is so so, depends on your taste. Plenty to drink, you will enjoy this bit no doubt! The 5 star service, if you’re not use to it, can take you back at first, with initial thoughts being “they want a bloody tip!” Well in the hotel, they don’t expect it and are grateful if you do. But your trip to the hotel, will be interrupted with several reminders that they expect a tip! For just about everything. Hold your nerve and don’t give in, you will get better at ignoring this, without feeling like a scrooge. This is only the case outside the hotel, so no real issue for the remaining holiday. Now if you choose to venture out, ensure you go with a guide/group. If you go to the beach, be mindful of the shops and tours that approach you, we had friends who booked a trip got absolutely ripped off, then when they realised this, they asked for a deposit back and it got heated. They never got the money back, but credit to Jaz again as they stepped up and actually refunded him the money, which they really didn’t have to do. Great service! This same group of friends also had an incident of being locked in a shop until they bought something as they were given “testers to try” but this means you have to buy something. He did so just to get out! So just a heads up on the shops. Remember there’s a price for locals and a price for “us”. It’s normally like a 5th of the price. So get them down on price! Took a trip to Karnak temples, it was brilliant but really hot! Some great history though. Visited the Valley of the kings, cant take cameras past a certain point, but again, some amazing history on offer. You, will need change to tip the guides going down, they expect! Took a boat trip on the river Nile and had lunch there too. We visited the desert and rode quad bikes, buggies, camels and a jeep. We went up mountains and back down. We saw a marriage which was incredible. Had a bbq and saw dancers, finished with star gazing. Great day out, but extremely hot, so take loads of water, which be prepared, goes warm quick! We took a boat trip out to the reef, several in fact and we did some snorkelling which was incredible! We saw Dolphins, jelly fish, several amazing different fish. Whilst out snorkelling slightly away from the reef, we were told to keep dead still, as the guide spotted a shark. We soon headed back. I was always under the impression that Sharks can’t get close to a reef, due to them being scared of the razor sharp reef, perhaps I’m wrong. Either way, no chances were taken, we soon got back to the boat. We did a shopping day out, which in my view, was set up purely for the shop owners. They take you to pre organised shops (probably family members of the guides) and they try to influence you to part with your hard earned cash on cr*p you don’t need. Did not enjoy this element of the trip. It ended with a visit to the bar at the harbour (again probably someone’s family member) where we were told the coach will leave in 1 and a half hours, basically the same time the MAN U and Arsenal game ended, conveniently! But we joined in and had food and alcohol and when the bill came in… “shhhooosh” as I eyed over to the wife, yes it was way cheaper than it should have been, literally half. Perhaps the chap with the calculator summing the selected food and drink, also had one too many drinks! One bonus for that trip I guess! We did so much as well as enjoy the hotel facilities. So I basically wanted to show everyone our trip, so we hope you enjoy! Please like, share and subscribe. We really appreciate it! Peace I’M ALIAS
