Las Vegas Travel Tips: 10 Things to Know Before You Go to Las Vegas

Things YOU need to know before you travel to Las Vegas Nevada. Las Vegas is Big, so is the Strip. Things are much further away than they seem from looking on a map. it will take you at least a 15-30 minute walk to get to a different hotel than your own. The Las Vegas strip is 4 miles. Find the shortcuts between hotels (Bally’s to Paris). Bring Comfortable Footwear. Leave the 4 inch heels at home, or have a second pair. Use the free trams (Luxor to Excalibur) (Monte Carlo to Bellagio). The monorail is pretty convenient too. Don’t try to hail Taxis on the strip, they won’t stop, it’s illegal. Go to a hotel taxi stand to get a taxi, be prepared to wait in line. And traffic at 6pm is awful 2. Downtown Las Vegas Is really far. $30 cab ride But the Freemont Street Experience is cool And it’s neat to see “old” vegas People say the best slot machine odds are downtown (worst at the airport) 3. Hotels Don’t pick the cheapest hotels… You’ll regret that $25/night rate. If you want to be in the “middle” stay around Caesars Palace Resort fees… ugh! Many strip hotels are charging for parking, loyalty program might get it for free If you like “peace and quiet” pick a non-casino hotel. I usually stay at Marriott properties a block or two off the strip, no resort or parking fees. 4. Gambling Learn the games, lots of free classes at Casinos Join the Player’s Clubs Lots of free perks Front of line, free parking, discounts on shows, food, etc 5. It’s the desert Drink plenty of water, it’s dry all the time Buy the water at a supermarket. Can be $6 a bottle at the casino In the summer its really hot! Wear suncreen In the winter it can be really cold and windy! Bring a jacket Nov-Feb. The casinos are always super cold… so bring a light jacket or sweater even in summer 6. When to go? When there isn’t a convention in town… check the convention calendars Mid-week and Christmas is also a slow time Vegas doesn’t close… ever it’s 24/7 7. Food Is awesome Do some research before you go -- there are lots of good restaurants, but they aren’t the obvious ones For example, Bouchon is hidden up some random elevator in the Venetian If there’s a famous restaurant somewhere else in the world that you’ve wanted to eat at, it might very well have a location in Vegas For Example HofBrauHaus from Munich Can be expensive But can be cheap. You can still find a T-bone steak for $4.95 Cheapest is usually downtown Chinatown has good eats too Breakfast is available 24/7 7.1. Buffets are great, But just once a day Twice a day is overdoing it! The time at the end of lunch right before dinner is the best deal IF you time it perfectly with the line But the lines can be LONG, think hours, 1, 2, 3 hours even. Eat dinner at 5pm or 8:30pm to avoid the rush. 7.2. You can drink alcohol anywhere Leaving a hotel? Ask for a to-go cup and drink on the sidewalk 8. ATMs are super expensive Standard Vegas ATM fee is like $6 Bring Cash Bank ATMS are hard to find 9. Smoking Seems to be allowed everywhere larger megaresorts have higher ceilings and good filtration systems, but the smaller, older casinos can get quite smoky. 10. Tipping Everybody wants a tip in Vegas 15-20% for restaurants Costumed people on the streets want money for photos CLICK HERE TO SUBSCRIBE: http://bit.ly/yellowwsub WATCH ALL of my LAS VEGAS videos in one Playlist: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLOVadUHX1B-JzE5fiVleugu6HTYLsr2sk Or you might enjoy watching some of these other videos from Las Vegas: Best Free Show in Las Vegas: https://youtu.be/DdkInoCP_vQ Best Cheap Eats in Vegas: https://youtu.be/m_wk3tWZTHs Marriott's Grand Chateau Las Vegas Review: https://youtu.be/QW4txjeB3DI Yellow Productions on social media: FACEBOOK: https://www.facebook.com/YellowProductionsTravel INSTAGRAM: https://www.instagram.com/yellowwproductions/ TWITTER: ChrisRaney GOOGLE+: https://google.com/+yellowwproductions Check out my blog at: http://yelloww.net

13 Worst Tourist Traps in Las Vegas

13 Of the Worst Tourist Traps in Las Vegas. Isn't the whole of Las Vegas a tourist trap? Yes, Las Vegas is designed to attracts tourists, but tourist traps are those who deliberately mislead and overcharge or who use tempting offers to lure the unsuspecting tourist. They don’t care if you ever come back they got your money once and hook new suckers daily. I do not consider tourist traps things that are popular with tourists, I like popular tourist attractions! That’s why they are popular, people like them! 1 - Club Promoters on the strip If there’s one rule of thumb in the Las Vegas nightlife scene is you get what you pay for. The Las Vegas strip is full of promoters offering free VIP pases to just about any club. They promise free drinks or to bypass the line. The deals are usually to good to be true. Bypass the line is usually only good early in the night when there is no line. And free drinks might only be up until a certain time. And never pay for a VIP pass on the strip, the promoter is already getting a cut from the club when 2- the gelato stand in the Forum Shops which I'm calling out because of the $10 for two small scoops 3 - Time share people asking "how long are you in town for", "can I interest you in show tickets" Don't listen to the timeshare people. Just keep walking- don't talk to them/don't make eye contact with them. Their free show tickets are a trap and a waste of time. They won’t cost you money, but will cost you your precious time. 4 - the rides on top of the Stratosphere. Three rides on top of the Strat...$36. 5 - Posing for pictures on the strip with characters...whether they be Elvis, or show girls, or a character from whatever the latest movie is. 6 - RESORT FEES... just put them in the price already!!! We ALL know they're mandatory!!! That $17 isn’t $17 when it has a $40 resort fee! 7- Cabo Wabo, PBR, & Margaretville below average food not worth the price. The setting sucks you in. 8 - Restaurants endorsed by celebrity chefs. You can expect to fork over $300-400 for a meal for 2 people at some of these places 9 - Three Card Monte Also known as a shell game, you’d think everybody would know about this, but it’s still alive and kicking in Vegas on the strip. Dealers setup a makeshift table with a cardbox box or something and ask players to be on a card that will be shuffled with the others. If you pick correctly you double your money. Except when they shuffle they switch your card with another one all together. You can never win. 10 - Bacchanal Buffet -- $64.99 for dinner. Want to skip the line and make reservation? Book the vip package for $94.99 a person! 13 - The High Roller Rollercoaster & Madame Tussaud's Some more things to avoid in Las Vegas: Any margarita under $3. Poker, BJ, and craps after drinking heavily. Friendly "single" women at bars. Watch or hold something for a stranger Accept a casino casino chip from a stranger in exchange for cash Set your purse or bag on the floor when playing Wade in the Bellagio (or any other) fountain Allow your cab drive to use the tunnel "to avoid construction" Be aware of the fact that many of the monorail stations are set way back from the strip and it is a hike to get to/from them. I would only use it if I were going to the Sahara/Hilton/convention center (others will disagree- but I am sticking to this advice!). Never take the Deuce if you have to be at a certain place at a certain time (or- at least- leave plenty of time to get there). The Deuce can be painfully slow and crowded. Don't forget to DRINK WATER and moisturize or you will go home looking like a hungover albeit happy lizard Cirque du'Soleil- all of them. Don't take a shuttle from the airport. It is almost as cheap to take a cab DO NOT see the Criss Angel show Don't get off of Freemont Street in any direction CLICK HERE TO SUBSCRIBE: http://bit.ly/yellowwsub You might enjoy watching some more videos from Las Vegas in my Vegas Playlist here: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLOVadUHX1B-JzE5fiVleugu6HTYLsr2sk Yellow Productions on Social Media: FACEBOOK: https://facebook.com/YellowProductionsTravel INSTAGRAM: https://instagram.com/yellowwproductions/ TWITTER: https://twitter.com/chrisraney GOOGLE+: https://google.com/+yellowwproductions Check out my blog: http://yelloww.net My video gear: Sony FDR-AX53 4K Handycam: http://amzn.to/2hYePVc Sony ECMW1M Wireless Microphone: http://amzn.to/2gQKDGG GoPro Fusion 360 Camera: https://amzn.to/2NINKSz LensPen Lens Cleaner: http://amzn.to/2hPYui1 Pacsafe LS250 Anti-theft Shoulder Bag: http://amzn.to/2h0YCNt Manfroto Pixi Mini Tripod: http://amzn.to/2ilJms6 Manfrotto Twist Grip Clamp: http://amzn.to/2hYEnyN
