http://www.expedia.com/San-Francisco.d178305.Destination-Travel-Guides Leave the regular world behind when you step into the fog-swathed “City by the Bay.” From shopping adventures in Union Square to a trip on the city’s legendary cable cars, a trip to San Francisco is bound to leave you with incredible memories. Stop by Fisherman’s Wharf and indulge in its shops and galleries, as well as some of the best fresh seafood you’ll ever taste. Walk on the Golden Gate Bridge and take in the fresh sea air and views of the bay and Pacific Ocean. If it’s a more serene environment you’re after, pass through the stately architecture and flowing lagoon of the Palace of Fine Arts. Of course, San Francisco sightseeing isn’t complete without an excursion to Alcatraz, the island prison that once held some of the country’s most notorious criminals. Look into its empty cells and thick stone walls and wonder, could you escape “The Rock”? http://www.TravelsWithSheila.com Fisherman's Wharf is one of San Francisco's most popular tourist attractions and what a sight it is on a gorgeous day. Walk slowly from the northern waterfront area from Ghirardelli Square to the Ferry Building or hop the vintage streetcar when tired. There are marketplaces, the Wharf's famous fishing fleet, sea lions stalls, restaurants and a gazillion souvenir stores. What a fun place!

The sights and scenery. The one-of-a-kind events and world-class food. The welcoming people, the diversity and rich history...But perhaps, more importantly, it has to do with the fact that no other city is as adept at combining disparate elements to create something new: taking the familiar and marrying it to the unknown; merging people’s expectations to moments of unpredictability; uniting long-held notions with startling innovations. A mile and a half from Fisherman's Wharf, Alcatraz was the site of the first lighthouse built on the Pacific Coast, then a federal prison for such notorious convicts as Al Capone. Now it is one of the city's most popular attractions. Alcatraz was the site of the first lighthouse in the Western United States but became a federal penitentiary from 1934-1963, housing famous convicts such as Al Capone and George "Machine Gun" Kelly. Now, this once infamous prison island is part of the Bay Area’s 80,000-acre Golden Gate National Recreation Area. Once called "the bridge that couldn't be built," today it is one the seven wonders of the modern world. This magnificent span, perhaps San Francisco's most famous landmark, opened in 1937 after a four-year struggle against relentless winds, fog, rock and treacherous tides. More than 75 percent of San Francisco's visitors include Fisherman's Wharf on their itinerary. Waterfront marketplaces and the Wharf's famous fishing fleet make for a terrific fish story. Fishing boats, sea lions basking in the sun, seafood stalls, steaming crab cauldrons, seafood restaurants and sourdough French bread bakeries … you know you’re in world-famous Fisherman’s Wharf. Souvenir shops and historic ships add to the atmosphere. cheap san francisco hotels san francisco hotels union square san francisco hotel deals san francisco hotels downtown san francisco boutique hotels hotels near san francisco w hotel san francisco fairmont hotel san francisco hostel san francisco motel san francisco omni hotel san francisco palace hotel san francisco san francisco hotel extended stay san francisco hotels near sfo san francisco hotels with a view discount san francisco hotels intercontinental san francisco hotel san francisco california hotels where to stay in San Francisco
Enjoy the sunny terrace and delicious food at Cioppino's Restaurant on San Francisco's Fisherman's Wharf . Our specialty is Cioppino; made with a rich broth of tomatoes and fish stock, fresh cracked crab, and the finest fish from the day’s market. Our chefs season it with a special blend of spices and just the right amount of garlic. In addition to our signature dish, Cioppino’s offers a full menu of seafood, pastas and pizzas.
Bereits 2 x gebucht. Ein dritter Besuch ist durchaus denkbar...
